Blog Commenting

On Tuesday last week we learnt how to write a proper blog comment with Mrs Grant.

When you say hello you can say it in any language you want. When you are going to say something you have to say it politely and use nice words.

You have to just use your first name when you are finished typing your comment.

You have to use full sentences when you are writing.

When you say something you just talk about the information that's in that persons' work. You should also be specific about what you are commenting on.

Tinsel Town is Back!

Our filming days are finally here!

The three groups vying for Oscar award nominations this term are:

Limiteti, Frank, Nowar, Jazer, Kotipi and Alicia in SUPERHEROES AGAINST RUBBISH

Leanah, Guinevere, Tristan and Taniela in CELEBRITY NEWS REPORT

Riiana, Dora, Jessica, Augeer and Anthony in DETECTIVE SAVES THE WORLD

We have drawn up a story board of each film, created a script, planned out the costumes, backgrounds and props and learnt how to use the tablet to create the video. The next step is to actually film our movies!

Good luck to all the groups becoming movie stars this week! When we've edited them, they'll be posted up on the blog!

Skipping

This term we have been practicing skipping for ten minutes each day. We have learnt to skip alone using different techniques like the skiier and bell skipping, and with a partner in different positions.
We also used the long skipping ropes and have practiced lots of techniques with that.

We can jump into the long rope while someone's turning it and we've even managed to get 4 people to jump in one after each other!

Check out Tristan's video too - he's nearly mastered the art of doing a push up for every jump!

Hollywood Comes to Town!

You may have heard from Room Six students that we're turning into Hollywood for the next couple of weeks during our Inquiry learning time!

Instead of making posters or something similar, we're going to become movie script writers, story board planners, directors, producers, costume designers, prop creators and actors and actresses...

So far we have been in groups planning out our movies to tell the viewer the facts we know about recycling. We have begun to plan our characters and roles in the film, the props and costumes we will need and the story line.

Next we're going to create a story board and film! Remember to bring any costumes you need to school in a named bag at the end of next week and it should all be the things you have at home - you do not need to buy anything new!

Happy filming, acting and watching!

Buddy Reading and Movie Making

This week I liked buddy reading because we can read books. We go to room 12. They read to us. When we first started we needed to partner up with a partner. We have to stay with them for two weeks. I enjoy doing buddy reading every day. It's fun doing buddy reading.

Room Six were planning a movie about recycling. Some of us are going to be celebrities for the movie. Jazer and I are going to be ninjas. We were planning parts for when we do our part for it. We called it Super Heroes Against Villans. We can bring costumes for it. I'm excited for it.

Waste Not, Want Not...

On Wednesday we did recycling, rubbish and dying.

We had to choose the right waste to put on the recycling or rubbish bin paper for art.

After that we had to cut it into little pieces so we have enough space.

Then we had to use PVA glue and sponges to glue it on the recycling and rubbish bin paper.

We had to be called by Miss Walters to do dying because we did two art pieces. One for inquiry and then the real art.

Barmy Bar Graphs

Today in Room 6 we used our tally charts from last week to make a bar graph.

Last week we walked out near the gates by the road patrol crossing and sat inside near the seniors playground. From there we could watch the cars driving past on the road outside school. We drew up a tally chart for different coloured cars and investigated the probability of different colours.

Today we used that tally chart to make a bar graph in our maths books. We learnt about the axis which are the lines on the graph at the side and at the bottom. Then we added the outcomes (the different colours) and the frequency (the number of cars in each colour).

After that we were able to draw out the bars of the bar graph to show how many cars in each colour drove past us. We had to make sure that we were following the straight lines, using our rulers and folllowing the blue squares in our maths books to keep the bar graph neat and easy to read.

After we drew the bars into the graph, we coloured them in using the car colours!

Here are some excellent bar graphs that some of the boys in Room 6 drew.

Jessica's Week 7 Reflection - Skipping

Skipping!

This week we've been skipping for the skip off at the end of the term I think?

When I'm skipping I try doing different foot techniques, like the bell, skiier, backwards step, forwards step and running with the skipping rope. I enjoy doing backwards step the most. If you're reading this tell me in the comments below what your favourite skipping technique is.

Skipping is about moving and jumping a lot. It helps to build our calves and to make it nice and strong. Skipping is like a workout for our legs or calves.

In skipping you could partner up and do under and over, back to back and face to face and other types. Maybe in the comments below you could tell me other ways of partner skipping?

I like skipping, do you?
