This week Room 6 have been learning a poem off by heart ready for our poem recital next week on Friday 6th November. We are going to choose the three best speakers to stand up and say their poem at the finals next week.
We remembered our acronym of CLASS from when we did speeches. Everyone needs to....
Speak CLEARLY
Speak Loudly
Look at the Audience
Speak Slowly
Stand Still
Our poems are pretty funny - lots of people liked our poem about the boa constrictor! Perhaps they can try and add some actions to it to make it even more interesting to watch!
Everyone needs to be practicing hard for our class competition on Monday morning!

Obstacle Golf
Today we had Snag Golf again and this time we got to go outside to hit some bigger shots! We practiced getting it over the sticky target which we pretended was a river, and some blue mountains which were cones!
Then when we were good at doing that, we had to hit the ball into some ice cream cones that our partner was holding.
We learnt two new steps today - one of them was that we had to touch our club to the yellow arrow on the floor, and the other was having the lines on the club pointing straight at our feet.
Miss Walters (who said she was really bad at golf!) even managed to get 3 snags! She listened hard and she learnt too!
Dora even managed to hit her ball into the ice cream cone when Peni was really far away! Jessica said she managed to hit the ball low and Frank STILL caught it!
Have a look at Tyra, Kotipi, Dora and Peni in our video below...
Well done to everyone and a big thank you to Shannon for helping us!

Stupendous Speeches
At the end of this term we will be having our speech competition! The competition will be held on the last day of term on Friday 25th September. The teachers will pick the people who have the best speeches in their classes to go to the speech competition and there they will see if their speech is the best for their age!
This week Room 6 have started talking about good speech topics, how to give a good speech and how to be an excellent audience. We know that our speech needs to have lots of information about an interesting topic and that we need to write it at home by ourselves. Our families can help but they shouldn't do it for us!
Over the next few weeks we will be writing and learning our speeches - some of us might even try using the class google drive account to save our speeches if we can get on it at home!
Wish us luck!
